Since Monday of this week the Communications Commission (the Commission) has been aware of a problem affecting many television viewers in the South of the Island, who are served by the Port St Mary transmitter. The issue involves poor signal and frequent dropping out of the non BBC channels on Freeview.

The Commission is in regular contact with the relevant organisation which manages the television transmitters and the likely cause of the problem is believed to have been identified, however adverse weather conditions have caused difficulties in the replacement part and a specialist engineer being able to travel over to the Island.

At the present time, it is estimated that the problem could be ongoing until Thursday 20th September, though this is dependent upon weather conditions improving.

Affected television viewers are thanked for their patience. The Commission’s website will be updated with further updates when available, and local media will be kept informed.
