Reminder: Planned Work at Jurby and Port St Mary

ConsumerThe Communications and Utilities Regulatory Authority has been notified of planned maintenance work to the masts in Jurby and Port St Mary, which may affect some viewers' television reception in the north and south of the island.
This is a reminder that planned maintenance is scheduled to take place from Monday 6th December until Friday 10th December 2021.

Disruption to Freeview Television Stations in Laxey

ConsumerThe Communications and Utilities Regulatory Authority (CURA) is aware of a problem in Laxey with disruptions to Freeview television stations. We are currently working with mast operators to resolve this issue.
It is expected that all issues will be resolved by 6:45pm.

Tynwald Approve Gas Tariff Increase

ConsumerThe Communications and Utilities Regulatory Authority proposed to Tynwald that Manx Gas be allowed to increase their prices by a maximum of 2.1 p per unit. At its sitting on 19th October 2021, Tynwald approved this increase.
The Authority understands that consumers will have concerns about this increase and has therefore published answers to Frequently Asked Questions on this topic. These can be viewed here.

Tynwald Asked to Increase Cap on Gas Prices to Protect Supply

ConsumerTynwald will be asked at its October sitting to approve an increase to the cap on the prices consumers can be charged for gas.
A review of pricing by the Communications and Utilities Regulatory Authority (CURA) - the Island’s gas market regulator – was triggered following the unprecedented increase in gas prices across the globe in recent weeks, with the cost of wholesale gas quadrupling in price. During September 2021 the price of gas on the international commodity markets recorded the highest prices experienced in many years due to several economic and political factors.
It means a unit of gas now costs more than Manx Gas is able to charge its customers. This is in part due to stronger gas pricing law introduced at the start of this year to protect consumers through capped prices.
If the cap increase is approved by Tynwald, Manx Gas would be able to increase charges to consumers by up to 2.1 pence per unit of gas.
Manx Gas wrote to CURA on 6 August 2021 formally requesting an increase to the maximum tariffs it can charge, set out in the Gas (Tariff Fixing) Regulations 2021. Notice Of Modification To Licence Held By Bluewave Communications Limited

ConsumerThe Authority has today issued a modified telecommunications licence to BlueWave Communications Limited.
The licence has been modified to include the addition of Code Powers, which will grant BlueWave the right to install and maintain its own telecommunications apparatus on public and private land, subject to the conditions contained within Schedule 5 of its licence.

Notice of Licence Award: Netcetera Limited

ConsumerThe Authority has today issued an Internet Service Provider licence to Netcetera Limited.
The licence will enable Netcetera Limited to run telecommunications systems within the Isle of Man in order to provide internet and internet related services.
