Kimmeragh - Mast Maintenance : Thursday 25th September 2025

ConsumerThe Communications and Utilities Authority has been notified of upcoming electrical maintenance on the Kimmeragh mast on Thursday 25th September 2025.
The work is being carried out by the MUA and is expected to take place between 9am to 6pm. It is expected that the mast is to be shut down for a short period and will be reconnected to a temporary generator whilst the works take place.
Further updates will be published if there are any changes to the upcoming works.

22/25: Consultation on the Competition Strategy 2025 - 2028

ConsumerThe Authority has published a Consultation on the Competition Strategy 2025-2028. The purpose of this document is to set out the Authority’s proposed strategy for competition regulation and the steps it will take to implement it.
This will provide greater understanding to businesses when competing in markets and will help to protect consumers, by making the Authority’s priorities clear and transparent when implementing the Competition Act 2021.

21/25: Information Notice - Extension to Consultation Period 2025 USO Consultation

ConsumerFollowing a request to extend the deadline for submission of representations on Document 16/25 Universal Service Obligation Consultation Proposed Variation of Manx Telecom’s Licence Condition; the Authority has decided, after considering the request, to extend the consultation period until 5pm on the 23rd September 2025.

20/25: Published Consultation on the Draft Gas (Economic Regulation) Bill

ConsumerThe Authority has published a consultation on the Draft Gas (Economic Regulation) Bill. The Bill provides the framework for the Authority to make regulations that will support the development of more detailed secondary legislation. It is not intended to set out a detailed or prescriptive set of measures for the Island’s gas sector, but rather to enable a more flexible and adaptable regulatory approach that can respond more efficiently to changing circumstances. The framework is intended to strengthen consumer protection and ensure effective oversight of the Island’s Gas sector.

16/25: Proposed Variation of Universal Service Obligation Consultation

ConsumerThe Authority has published a proposal to vary Manx Telecom’s Universal Service Obligation to provide telephony services to customers that would otherwise not have access to them on terms that are equivalent to existing customers. The proposal reflects changes in the telecoms market over recent years, including developments in service and technologies.
Interested Parties are invited to respond to the consultation by 5pm on the 9th September 2025.

15/25: Commercial Customers Gas Tariffs Consultation

ConsumerThe Authority has published its proposals for extending the current regulatory framework to include gas tariffs for large consumers; this follows the publication of Information Notice (27/24) highlighting the Authority’s concerns with the level of tariffs for Special Agreement Customers.
Interested Parties are welcome to respond to the consultation by 5pm on the 5th August 2025.

14/25 : Information Notice - Interim Gas Tariff Review Notice

ConsumerThe Authority has published Information Notice 14/25 in respect of the mid year Gas Tariff review. The outcome of the review is that tariffs will be increasing by 5.3% with effect from 1 July 2025. The Information Notice can be found here.

Glen Maye - Electrical Mast Maintenance - 20th June 2025

ConsumerThe Communications and Utilities Authority has been notified of upcoming electrical maintenance on the Glen Maye mast on June 20th 2025. The work is being carried out by the MUA and is expected to take place between 9am to 4pm. It is expected that there will be no power received on the mast during this time period.
Further updates will be published if there are any changes to the works.

09/25 : Information Notice - Investigation of Allegations into Anti-Competitive Behaviour

ConsumerThe Authority received a complaint that e-llan Communications Limited and/or Manx Cable Company Limited may be engaging in anti-competitive practices. Specifically, it has been alleged that it is inappropriately restricting access to the subsea fibre optic communications cable operated by e-llan Communications Limited. The Authority will investigate the claims made in the complaint, but it is important to point out that at this stage no findings have been made in the matter.
