News Release: Increase in Gas Tariffs

ConsumerIn line with the Gas (Tariff Fixing) (Parameters) Regulations 2022, the Authority began an interim review of gas tariffs at the beginning of June based on information provided by Manx Gas. While changes were not warranted at that time, the market has been exceptionally volatile since then. The Authority felt it would be prudent to keep this review of tariffs open to try and gain a clearer picture of the forward prices for winter 2022.
Since the review commenced there has been a significant increase in forward gas commodity prices, with current prices for winter 2022 being significantly higher than those assumed when the tariffs were set in March of this year. Wholesale prices have increased considerably in recent weeks spurred by Russia reducing the flow of natural gas to Europe. The prices have gone from an average of approximately 250p per therm at the beginning of June to 460p per therm currently, which equates to wholesale prices of 8.5p/unit and 15.7p/unit respectively.
Although Manx Gas is now setting its own tariffs, these tariffs must be provided to the Authority in advance. Manx Gas submitted new data on the proposed tariffs to the Authority on Monday. The Authority has reviewed the data submitt…

Planned Work at Jurby

ConsumerThe Communications and Utilities Regulatory Authority has been notified of planned essential maintenance work to the mast in Jurby, which may affect some viewers' television reception, particularly when watching Channel 4.
Planned maintenance is taking place from 1st until 5th August 2022. We have been informed that this work will not be carried out over weekend periods.

Update: Issues with Port St Mary Transmitter Resolved

ConsumerThe Communications and Utilities Regulatory Authority has been advised by the mast operator that the issue which was causing poor TV reception for some viewers in the south of the Island has now been identified and resolved. Normal service has resumed.

ConsumerThe Communications and Utilities Regulatory Authority has today been advised that the essential maintenance work planned for the Port St Mary transmitter (scheduled to be completed by 23rd May 2022) is still ongoing. As a result, some viewers in the south of the Island may currently be experiencing television reception issues.
The mast operator has confirmed that engineers are currently working to resolve this issue and normal service will be resumed as soon as possible.
